Artefacts from the Apollo 11 are going up for auction amid celebrations marking 50th anniversary.
Christie’s New York is holding an auction called “One Giant Leap: Celebrating Space Exploration 50 Years After Apollo 11”. The collection that includes items of Neil Armstrong’s and Buzz Aldrin’s possessions while on the Apollo 11 mission is set to fetch $8m.
At Sotheby’s, a variety of material from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions will be on sale. The NASA recordings of the first trip to the moon are expected to reach up to $1.7 million. Control panels from different missions are also going on sale. These panels are expected to sell for between $150,000 and $300,000 each.
