Car theft: Drivers failing to take simple security steps

Car crime is on the rise in the UK as thefts soar across Britain. Over the last few years, the amount of vehicles stolen has increased.

One of the main reasons is the increase of keyless entry theft which allows for criminals to get into cars quicker. Many UK drivers still do not take precautions into stopping this from happening.
Almost a fifth aren’t taking precautions, putting themselves at risk of having their car stolen. Almost two thirds rely on standard measures to keep them safe but with new criminal innovation this is not enough. Luxury cars are most at risk. Only 14 per cent of owners whose motor costs more than £20,000 take any precautions. The most popular cars targeted were Range Rovers, Audi’s and Mercedes’.
Despite keyless entry theft,  only five per cent of drivers hide their fobs in an RFID wallet which stops the signal being transmitted. Despite this simple safety precaution almost 23 per cent of motorist still thinks leaving their key fobs next to the door is enough.
